The SLNSWCA for the first time in its history produced and presented "The Passion of Christ" on Palm Sunday 24th March on the grassed area at the Mount Schoenstatt Shrine in Mulgoa.
It was reminiscent of the pagents of our home country presented in Duwa, Payagala/Maggona, Hiniduma etc.
Our community came together under the direction of our Chaplain Fr Treesen and our young and talented Maliza to produce a pageant that was so true to life, that it brought the large audience to be overcome with emotion at the crucifixion. There were many a tear shed not only by them but also the crew.
The band of amateur actors with Roy playing the lead role together with the production crew put out a pageant of a star class.
The dialogue was reinforced by a superlative team of narrators led by Senani, which included Fr Treesen, Nipuna & Aubrey.
The costumes were sourced by Dayanitha & and Keshani, which contributed to the lustre and brilliance of the pageant.
Supported by an outstanding musical score by Malith backed by the association choir, the pageant was applauded by all who witnesed this magnificent production.
This was followed by the blessing of Palms and Holy Mass, and after a long lapse of time, it was heartning to see the Family Hall at Mulgoa packed to the rafters.
At the end of Holy Mass Fr Treesen lit a candle in remembrance of the Easter bomb tragedy victims.
The sumptuous buffet lunch that followed comprising of a set menu was entirely donated and shared by the community.
The following pics may not do justice, as our regular photographer was on holidays , the camera work was left to yours truly.
The video captures included here are from the audience. More official pics and video will be posted shortly.
